About
‘International percussionist blending Japanese and Western rhythms in boundary-breaking performances’
Born in Japan and raised in the UK from the age of 16, I have become an internationally acclaimed drummer, fusing the rich musical traditions of both cultures. Having graced the stages of prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Hall, Barbican Hall, Brighton Dome, and Blue Note Tokyo, I have made a name for myself as a versatile and boundary-breaking performer. With a PhD in Music from SOAS and numerous appearances on BBC Radio, I continue to push the limits of percussion performance.
Career
My journey as a cross-cultural drummer truly began when I first moved to the UK and was exposed to the rich tapestry of Western music. Inspired by the diverse sounds and rhythms around me, I embarked on a quest to blend my Japanese roots with my newfound love for Western percussion. Today, I share my unique fusion of musical styles with audiences worldwide, offering a transcendent experience that bridges the gap between cultures and showcases the beauty of global rhythms.
